Nearly 30 years I ago started my training company at the kitchen table. I had attended several management development programmes as part of my job and had that light bulb moment - which went something like - I could do this - I would love to do this.

It wasn't too ridiculous a thought as before I had been working in various roles in the charity sector including a Training & Development Officer and was currently the CEO of a Racial Equality Council. I had started my career as a teacher.

So why not combine my actual hands on experience with my teaching ability? The issues I needed to overcome were, how do you get booked as a trainer and what actually should go into training programmes. You see how little I knew at that point! 

However a lot of phone calls, a lot of reading and research, hours and hours of developing programmes and materials, a bit of doing stuff for free and a year long course getting my Certificate in Training and Development, oh and I nearly forgot to mention, giving in my notice to my full time job, I felt confident enough to work as a Freelance Trainer.
